081109 – The 8th Annual Manhwa Day @ N Seoul Tower

Bookmark and Share
From Namsangol Hanok Village, I walked to the bus stop in front of the Chungmuro subway station and took a yellow bus No 2 to N Seoul Tower. Since I been there previously, I went there to take a good picture in the N Seoul Tower vicinity without buying a ticket going up to observatory deck.

Upon reaching the N Seoul Tower Plaza compound, I saw a human iron sculpture hanging in the air.

Coincidently there was The 8th Annual Manhwa Day event, where manhwa is the Korean term for comics and animated cartoons. I’m not sure the name of these characters. I appreciate if someone knows it, please enlighten me in my below comments.

The roof terrace is the symbol of romantic couples love. There are a lot of couples came here and keep terrace lock on the iron fence; and couples wrote some message about their love.

Though the shots were not that good, I need to practice more. Alright, time to head back to hotel.

081109 – Namsangol Winter Retreat Festival Event

Bookmark and Share
The 2008 Namsangol Winter Retreat Festival will be held for two days, from November 8 to November 9, at the Namsangol Hanok Village, a popular tourist attraction in Seoul displaying traditional Korean houses. There will be a variety of performances and events to celebrate the Korean tradition of “Woldong (wintering)”, where Korean ancestors would specially prepare and store away Kimchi, and would carry out other winter preparations, before the weather became too cold.

During the Namsangol Winter Retreat Festival visitors will be able to enjoy traditional Korean dances, Samullori (traditional Korean percussion quartet), folk concerts, and musicals at the performance stage, as well as exhibitions of dolls and flower arrangements under the theme of ‘Woldong’. Visitors will also be able to sample traditional Korean winter food. The festival will offer other unique experiences that visitors can participate in, on a first-come first-serve basis, such as preparing Kimchi, a Kimchi buffet, traditional arts, and folk games.

Thanks to this link that enable me to experience and enjoy this memorable event.
